A small tattoo can sometimes provide more flexibility, but the new piece still needs enough size and visual structure to disguise the original marks effectively.
Very dark tattoos cannot simply be covered with lighter ink as though the old image were blank skin. The new design must account for the dark areas and may require a larger, stronger composition.
Names, words, and lettering create distinctive shapes that can remain noticeable beneath a poorly planned cover up. We evaluate those shapes when deciding how a new subject can be positioned.
